When Angela contacted me, she worried that she didn’t have many photos of just her and Stephen. For that reason, she didn’t want a traditional maternity session with the bulk of the photos focused on a growing baby bump. Angela and Stephen wanted a session that documented their lives today – pre baby – and their walks through downtown Norfolk. They live in Norfolk and enjoy strolling through the Freemason area as well as spending time at places on Granby Street. So we focused on the two of them and their love for one another.
Yes, of course we documented the adorable, growing bump as well! And we plan on documenting it more in the coming months, too. But for now, we focused on some of their favorite areas and their time together. I photographed their session with a combination of film and digital cameras and continue to love the journey of rediscovering film. It was perfect for the Freemason portion of their session – capturing the warm winter light and the beautiful earth tones. The historical charm of Freemason’s cobblestone streets and Granby’s new school energy really personify the revitalization of Norfolk.
